You could make a case for any one of these: Dale Jr. is only the most popular driver in the series, now on the best team; JGR instantly gives Toyota a fighting chance; Mark Martin is one of the true legends of our generation (give Teresa credit for putting someone as likable in Dale Jr.'s "number"...not even Junior Nation will dip to the level of booing Mark Martin); the COT, as maligned as it is, is the future of the sport and everyone better learn to live with it; and the fact that this will be the 50th 500 shows just how special and long lasting the empire Bill France and Bill France Jr. built from nothing truly is (and unfortunately, the third generation, namely Brian, is destroying that empire). Still you can't pick against Junior. This is a make or break year for him...is he a 10th place driver or championship-caliber? The equipment shouldn't be a concern anymore.
